Underbite: Case 1
Description
This patient, from San Antonio, came into my office because her older sister had been through orthodontic treatment with me a couple of years before. Her mom and her dentist both mentioned that her case seemed to be significantly more difficult than her sister's case due to a severe underbite. Upon examination, we determined that the underbite was not as problematic as it seemed at first, and we assured her mom that she would not require jaw surgery or tooth removal to correct her bite. The patient was very compliant with our instructions to wear rubber bands, since she was motivated to avoid more invasive procedures. She had a beautiful outcome as a result, and was only in braces for 15 months, even shorter than we estimated. Her post-treatment survey included a comment that she loved our awesome staff and appreciated how friendly they were.
