Hi, I'm Richard Hulme. I'm the owner and orthodontist here at Hulme Orthodontics.
Scouting has been a part of my life since I was a boy, when I was an Eagle Scout, and it's been a part of my life here in San Antonio, as I've been a leader in various troops for about 20 years. My background in church and scouting has given me a solid foundation of principles upon which I've tried to build my practice.
Some of the basic principles of scouting are things like being trustworthy and loyal, helpful and friendly. It's not uncommon to see on our patient satisfaction surveys, comments about how helpful or friendly the staff is or how patients feel like they can trust the decisions that we make and the recommendations that we give.
Another big principle of scouting is to be cheerful. I feel like that's the spirit I kind of want to have at our office, that everybody that you meet here should have a cheerful attitude and should welcome you into our office as a friend.
In my training in residency, I was trained and prepared to become a board-certified orthodontist. In fact, I was in one of the first classes to be board-certified straight out of residency. That's been a priority to me because only about 30% of orthodontists are board-certified.
So not only am I an orthodontist and not just a general dentist, but I am also a board-certified orthodontist. It shows that I'm committed to the highest ideals of quality and excellence in our profession. Nowadays, there's a trend in dentistry to move towards corporate dentistry, where private practitioners are kind of falling by the wayside as big businesses come in and hire dentists to work for them.
I'm a private practice orthodontist. I'm a solo private practice orthodontist, meaning that when you come to our practice, you'll see me and only me. I see you at every single visit, and I make sure that your treatment is well planned and well cared for from the beginning to the end. I care about the entire patient experience, from the way the phone is answered to the way your bills are handled to the way your insurance is filed.
I care about the treatment that we provide and about the service that you receive from each of my employees. I have a fantastic team. Many of them had been in the field even longer than I have, and we have all been together for a number of years, so that we work together well and we can provide you the best possible service.
I believe I have the experience, the expertise, and the commitment to excellence that will ensure you have the best-quality treatment.
